dpi.
Large format posters are excellent for sermon series graphics,
revival or special meeting displays, youth room graphics, banners, presentations,
world missions conference displays or anywhere you need to display large photographic-quality
images.
Please read the following information BEFORE you contact the
Association office with questions.
Wide
Format Poster Guidelines
Introduction
Our wide format posters are printed using 4-color
(CMYK--NOT RGB) high-resolution printers. The printers use 4 separate color inks
Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, K(Black) at 300DPI to produce
continuous-tone photo quality at an apparent 300 dpi. Posters are
output directly from your computer file to continuous tone full
color prints.
Posters are best viewed from at least three to
six feet, depending upon the size of the poster. At extremely close
range you may notice the dot pattern as well as slight banding in
vector based gradient files.
This is a technology limitation.
Order
Guidelines
A completed Poster Order Form is required with
any order to prevent any miscommunications. We also prefer receiving
you image file on a CD-ROM.
Color Renditions
We highly recommend you plan the time to approve
a color sample before we print your poster(s). Design a small
file 8" by 10" that is representative of your final poster.
We will output this sample at our $15 minimum billing rate. Allow
24-48 hours in-house for any sample.
File Setup
and Page Size Settings
We recommend using CorelDraw. You may also Illustrator or
Photoshop to create your poster, but the image quality may vary. If you do not own these
programs, we can design your poster from a pencil sketch or sample
from MS Word, Publisher, etc.
Your design should be
created in CMYK and should be no less than 25% of the
final image size, with 150 dpi of information at final print size
for raster-based images. For
example, for a 24x36 poster you could either design on a page size of A)
24x36 at 150 dpi, B) 12x18 at 300 dpi or C) 8x12 at 450
dpi.
These are just a few examples to explain the
process, you may design at any page size proportional to your final
output size (no less than 25% of final image size).
Output
Material Options
The standard output material for our Poster
Printer is is a high-gloss roll of Encad stock measuring 36" wide
and 100' long. This material is a hi-res photo paper which produces a
vibrant end product.
Color Guidelines
To ensure the most accurate color, you must create your work in CMYK
color mode. CMYK is for color printing while RGB is for on-screen Web
graphics! It is important
to realize that the color output will not match a Pantone Swatchbook
display exactly. You should also check the actual values of the color
created rather than trusting your monitor because color will print
based on the set values, not as they appear on screen. Solid
Colors Print Faster!
How the Printer Works
The Poster Printer uses a newly developed process that allows for
increased sharpness of an image. Stochastic screening (also known as
frequency modulation) utilizes randomly placed dots that are all
exactly the same size. The precision placement of each of these
same-size dots yields a sharper image than traditional halftone
printing, which utilizes equally spaced dots of differing sizes.
Care
and Handling
Because the Poster Printer utilizes water-soluable inks, use caution
when handling or displaying the posters. We recommend using white
cotton gloves when handling the prints. Prints are delivered in tubes
as they come off the printer. We do not trim Posters to a specific
size. You will need to do that.
It is highly recommended that the prints be laminated and/or mounted
to protect their surface. We can laminate them for you.
